The rail lock for the tail section of the bridge span over the Neva River is designed to ensure quick and reliable connection of rails and smooth passage of rolling stock, as well as to compensate for changes in the length of the rail threads resulting from changes in temperature and the impact of loads from the rolling stock. The rail lock ensures continuity rail thread, connecting the ends of the rails of the arched span and the adjustable span by means of overlays connected to the rails of the arched span with track bolts, and with the rails of the adjustable span - with pins. The rail lock has a length change compensator. The movement of the points relative to the frame rails occurs together with the span.
