The equalizing joint is designed to compensate for changes in the length of rail threads resulting from changes in temperature and the impact of loads from rolling stock. Compensation for longitudinal movements of the rail threads occurs due to the displacement of the movable rail relative to the point. The connection between the point and the moving rail is made according to the 'oblique joint' scheme. The leveling joint is used on sections of the track adjacent to the arched spans of bridges, with a change in the length of the rail threads by plus or minus 270 mm. In the absence of an equalization joint, stresses arise in the elements of the bridge and the adjacent track, disrupting the normal operation of the bridge and track structures, and conditions are also created for violating traffic safety. The equalizing joint reduces or eliminates these stresses arising from mutual displacements
elements of bridge spans and adjacent sections of the track as a result of temperature fluctuations. The delivery set of the equalization joint includes counter angles.
