Designed to transfer rolling stock from one track to another or to pass in a straight direction. It is used on 1st and 2nd class railway lines with mixed freight and passenger train traffic. The use of translation is especially beneficial in cramped conditions. A sharp crosspiece with a cast core is connected to rail guards. The blunt cross is solid cast from high-manganese steel. The counter rail is not connected to the track rail. All linings have high flanges. Frame rails and points are hardened at high frequency.
